Mr. Chuck Watson, Attorney
I am a sixty-year-old trial lawyer, with over thirty years experience in the courtroom. I know that if you are looking for a criminal defense lawyer for yourself or a loved one, you are seeking results. Furthermore, if you do not have confidence in your lawyer, you will never have confidence in the results he obtains for you. I have taken the liberty, therefore, to include within this website some of the examples of results which I have been able to obtain in dozens, if not hundreds of cases.
In addition to obtaining noteworthy outcomes at trial, I have negotiated hundreds of plea agreements, many of which have been remarkable in their own right. I also have a notable record of dismissals, as a result of search or confession challenges under the Fourth and Fifth Amendments. The cases cited on this site constitute what comes most readily to mind as I reflect on my career.
In addition to pursuing justice for my clients, I have worked hard to promote a justice model within our society which reflects what we are entitled to expect as a by-product of 6,000 years of civilization. I have served my profession and my community by fostering professionalism. I am a Founding Member of the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a former President of that organization. I am a full fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. I served as Chairman of the Criminal Section of the Montana State Bar for ten years. I am a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a Provisional Member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. I also co-founded the first drug treatment court in the state of Montana and I am a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers.
I have on occasion, served as an expert witness in federal court on criminal defense matters. Over the course of the last several years, I have published in the area of criminal law, and I have spoken at a number of seminars pertaining to criminal law matters.
Mr. Christopher C Young, Of Counsel
A Great Falls native, Chris is finally back in the Big Sky after spending 13 years in the Midwest and 14 years on the east coast.
Chris cut his teeth practicing in the Philadelphia area, where he represented multi-national insurance companies, Fortune 50 financial corporations as well as individuals. His experience ranges from insurance coverage actions arising out of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and long-tail asbestos claims to defense of premises liability claims for a large international coffee house to individual claims for employment discrimination to protection of trade secrets. He even took a tour with a major mutual fund company based in Malvern, Pennsylvania where he negotiated contracts with vendors for a broad range of services, including tax preparation and cyber security. He has litigated in State and Federal Courts as well as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). With Chris you get big-city sophistication with western, small-town sensibilities.
Since returning to Montana, Chris has directed his practice to a diverse range of subjects. He is representing individuals whose civil rights have been infringed, personal injury plaintiffs and providing regulatory compliance advice to the medical marijuana industry under the Montana Marijuana Act. In addition, he helps small businesses to comply with State Agencies, including the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Department of Labor. Chris’s practice also includes insurance coverage and both plaintiffs and defendants in employment law.

Mr. Herman A. Watson, IV, Attorney
You could say he is well-rounded: Herman was born in Macon, Georgia, where etiquette and manners make an impression, however, he grew up in Montana, settling scores with a friendly punch in the face. As for schooling, the third-generation criminal defense attorney went to preparatory school outside Boston, where he learned well how to read and write, but attended college in Portland, Oregon, where he avoided doing either, choosing instead to invest in the burgeoning beer market; Herman has worked in and managed several bars across the globe.
After year-long sojourns in Oxford, England, and Holland, where he studied international criminal law, Herman returned to San Francisco, where he finished law school, and took up his true passion: fighting the government (a.k.a. criminal defense).
Since then, Herman has trained under the legendary Tony Serra at Pier 5 Law Offices, old-guard attorney from the Barbary Coast and long-time defender of civil rights, as well as the zealous marijuana guru, Kali S. Grech at Green Street Law Group. Herman has also specialized in narcotics defense, marijuana law, and DUI/DWI, and is licensed in both Montana and California.
When Herman is out of the courtroom, he is either traveling or climbing the many rocks and mountains of Southwest Montana. Crowning achievements to date, Herman climbed the Grand Teton when he was 9, meeting Alex Lowe along the way, and once shot a perfect game of pool.
